Alexander Big Red conversion to Circle K has begun, and 43 others

Anyone who is a frequent driver of Highway 111 through Alexander, Arkansas may have noticed a change. The Big Red is now sporting a temporary Circle K banner.

Besides the Big Red in Alexander, conversion of the other 43 Big Red locations in Central Arkansas has also begun. They were purchased by Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., which owns the Circle K brand.

The deal between the Canadian-based corporation and Summerwood Partners, corporate owner of Big Red, was finalized as of April 17. According to the Big Red "About" section on its website, the gas and convenience stores were established in 1997 by Central Arkansas natives David and Doug Hendrix.

The Alexander Big Red, at the corner of Cornerstone Rd. and Highway 111, opened November 12, 2021. Ironically, seven months later, a Circle K opened around June of 2022, less than 3/4 of a mile north of the Big Red in Alexander.
