Alexander "Red and White Team" announce another Meet-and-Greet for Saturday

Starting at 10 AM on Saturday (October 18) the "Red and White Team" will hold a "Meet and Greet" at the Dollar General Store in Alexander. The store is located next to the post office along Hwy. 111.

The "Team" includes several candidates running in the City of Alexander November election. Candidates include one for mayor and five running for eight of the alderman spots. Former mayor Paul Mitchell is running with the group for mayor. Incumbents Juanita Wilson and Andrea Bearden; former alderman Dan Church; along with newcomers Ken Miller and Melissa Ratliff are running for the alderman positions. Bearden is the only one unopposed.

The "Meet and Greet" is being held so any voters who are undecided will have the opportunity to ask the candidates questions.

  1. I got a flier in the mail today telling me to vote for former Mayor Mitchell. But before I make my decision I was wondering if he and his wife have gotten their meth addiction under control? I know Mrs. Mitchell went to jail for drug use and I was wondering if Paul Mitchell went to rehab for his? I believe everyone deserves a second chance in life and wished he would post on how he beat his addiction before I vote. If he has beaten it and is clean I'm sure others will vote him for him. Please let us know? Thank You Wendy

    2. Paul Mitchell doesn't have a drug problem. For as long as I have known him and been his neighbor, I have never known him to have a drug problem of any kind. I have had the pleasure of having numerous conversations with Paul, and in my professional opinion as a former State Licensed and Certified Healthcare worker trained to spot and detect signs and symptoms of addictions, I have never seen any of these from Mr. Mitchell. He is an upstanding man with a good heart, and he is even better a man in my opinion by sticking beside his wife for better and worse. It's a shame such an honorable person has to be subject to this kind of demeaning childish gossip. If anything is to be said about Paul Mitchell it is that he has a good heart, and loves his wife, and will do what's best for his family and will certainly do what's best for this city. I am curious if you had the chance to attend any of the publicly advertised meet and greets which he attended. The opportunity to meet this great man face to face was presented to everyone who wished to attend. I stand behind Paul Mitchell for mayor because I have met his man, and I know him to be the absolute best choice for mayor that this city has ever seen.

  2. I’m sorry to see the character assassination gossip is still around. I hope you and others who are honestly investigating the issues will make your decision on your vote on the facts; which are:

#1.Mayor Mitchell has been under strict doctor’s care for over 4 years, his focus is Crones Disease. He has never had a problem with drugs. When his wife was going through her rehab and successfully “manning up” to the issues facing them, he stood by her side and kept everything in their home and life together and running smoothly. The Crones Disease is under control as long as he stays under the Doctors care and follows the very strict regimen prescribed. Many have judged them, but the question is rarely ever asked “Given the same facts all around, what would you have done?”

#2. Mayor Mitchell’s audits are the best Alexander has had, bar none.
Many people base their political opinions on TV ads and gossip. I’m not saying you are, in fact you are asking important questions. I hope you and others will come to the Meet and Greet on Saturday at the Dollar General, meet the candidates, ask questions and tell them the issues that concern you and include your opinion on them.

#3. Mrs. Mitchell is ready to make a fine ‘first lady’ for the city of Alexander. She has been through a lot, and is very clearly a winner for all of it.
