Six circulating petitions for re-election in November Alexander election

Now is the time for registered voters in the City of Alexander, who want to serve in an elected position, to begin gathering signatures on your nominating petition. Positions up for election this year are for mayor and the eight seats on the city council. The mayor serves a four-year term while council members serve two-year terms.

So far, only current elected council members and the mayor are circulating petitions. Each one needs a minimum of 10 signatures.

Asking to be re-elected are Mayor Paul Mitchell and council members Joe Pollard (Ward 1, Position 1) Lana Joy Gray (Ward 2, Position 1), Juanita Wilson (Ward 2, Position 2), Harold Timmerman (Ward 3, Position 1), and Dan Church (Ward 3, Position 2). That leaves Ward-1, Position-2; Ward-4, Position-1 and Ward-4, Position-2 available for anyone wishing to serve on the council. Of course, anyone can take out a position for any of the nine positions appearing on the ballot.

Petitions must be picked up at the Saline County Clerk’s Office;
215 North Main, Suite 9;
Benton, Arkansas;
between the hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays. When requesting a petition you must state which position you are seeking (ie. Ward-1, Position-2).

The first opportunity to file a petition is Friday, July 27. Filing ends on Friday, August 17. The election is Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

    1. You must be a registered voter, live in Alexander, know how to spell the word requirement, and be able to convince enough voters you can do a better job than the current mayor.
