The end is nigh

After nearly 14 years The Alexandrian is closing shop. December 31 will be the last day.

The Alexandrian began as a paper copy describing the political happenings around Alexander posted in strategic locations throughout the city. In February, 2013 it was converted into first an online news site. Later, the Facebook version was established to announce new articles that had been posted to the news site.

The Facebook side has grown to share news postings from other sources that could be of interest to city residents. The occasional discussion has also broken out.

I post this now, prior to Tuesday’s election, as a statement that the election outcome has nothing to do with my decision. I made this decision early this year.

Since retiring from my previous employment in December, 2012, life has become busier not slower. I have more to do now than ever. Just without the driving.

Also, lately, it seems I add one more doctor to the list. I can only hope this second retirement reduces the stress.

This doesn’t mean I will totally disappear. I will still maintain the Facebook page. And, I may post the occasional Op-Ed. But for news about meetings, you’ll have to either go to them in person, or watch the video and try to figure out what they are saying on your own.

See you in the funny papers!
